Dr. Puig was born in Mexico and moved to the valley in 1991 and graduated from McAllen High School. Dr. Puig attended Texas A & M University where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Biology. He completed his medical education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston through the Harris County Hospital District.

After completing residency training, he opted to return to South Texas to provide quality care to his community. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. His special interests include high risk obstetrics, laparoscopic surgery, and pelvic floor repair.

He is an avid tennis player and enjoys swimming and traveling.
