Dr. Martinez attended medical school at the University of Miami and completed his residency at the University of Texas at Houston. Dr. Martinez has been practicing in the McAllen-Edinburg area since 1997, when he founded the Incontinence Center and the Menopause Institute of South Texas. The clinic was initially founded as Edinburg Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Infertility Clinic, but it soon grew to incorporate the latest technologies in the fields of Gynecology and Incontinence.
Dr. Martinez approach to the practice has been to remain innovative and lead the clinic with the integration of services that are most current. Since 1997 Dr. Martinez has been the leader in the Valley Ob/Gyn community to introduce techniques such as: transvaginal titanium screws anti-incontinence procedures, laparoscopic bladder suspensions, use of grafts and mesh for the correction of pelvic prolapse, all three available endometrial ablation techniques, 4D obstetrical ultrasound, Essure sterilization, anti-incontinence procedures including the TVT, Sparc, Monarc, Mentor sling, TVT-O, as well as the DaVinci robotics surgical approach.
At the present Dr. Martinez efforts have concentrated on the implementation and development of the Robotics DaVinci program at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance affiliated with the Women's Doctors Hospital. Dr. Martinez was the first to perform gynecological surgeries using the robotics approach and remains a leader in this area.
