The Women’s Clinic of South Texas has led the way in the Valley in providing our patients and our medical community with the latest advances and technology in Women’s health. Over the years our innovative spirit has set the pace in this fast growing medical community. We continue to excel in the specialty of women’s health with a commitment to improve our patients’ well being.

Here are a few of the accomplishments that have set us apart in our community:

1997 Incontinence Center of South Texas is founded, the first center to offer a comprehensive incontinence program for women with integration of biofeedback or pelvic physiotherapy to the Valley.

1998 First to introduce to the Valley surgical techniques for bladder surgery such as: laparoscopic bladder suspension, pubovaginal sling, and transvaginal sling.

1999 The Menopause Institute of South Texas is founded, offering women in our community a new approach and a more comprehensive program for menopause management.

1999 First to introduce to the Valley techniques for pelvic reconstruction using fascia lata for the treatment of pelvic relaxation.

2000 First to introduce to our area the 3-D Ultrasound technique for our obstetrical patients.

2000 The Incontinence Center of South Texas becomes a treating center to teach visiting physicians, operative techniques. The Center also becomes one of the top five practices in the country to perform bladder suspensions using the transvaginal In-Fast sling technique.

2001 A Sexual Dysfunction Program is presented to our community. We are the first to discuss and treat this subject with the latest treatments available.

2001 Endometrial ablation, a treatment used for the treatment of abnormal bleeding in women is introduced to the Valley by our center. We are the first in our community to introduce the technique using the Gynecare Thermo-ablation.

2002 New techniques are introduced to the Valley for the treatment of urinary incontinence. These include Tension Free Vaginal Tape (TVT), Suprapubic Arc (SPARC), and Capio device amongst many others.

2003 Novasure, a new ablation technique is introduced by our clinic to the Valley.

2003 4-D Ultrasound is introduced to our obstetrical patients. We are the only practice to provide 4-D Ultrasound as a complimentary service.

2003 We are the first to use a pelvic mesh for the treatment of pelvic hernias and pelvic relaxation. We are one of the few practices in the country and the only one in the Valley to use this innovative technique for the treatment of pelvic relaxation.

2003 Monarc Trans-obturator approach to bladder suspension is also introduced to the Valley by our center. TVT-O and others are offered to our patients.

2004 A Pelvic Pain Program is instituted and presented to our community. We are the only practice with a multi-disciplinary program formally designed for the treatment of pelvic pain in women with a special emphasis on Interstitial Cystitis.

2004 First women’s clinic in the Valley to implement in-office hysteroscopy and cystoscopy.

2004 Her Option, the in-office ablation procedure for heavy periods, is introduced to the Valley by our office. We are the only office to offer this technique in the Valley.

2004 Essure, sterilization technique is introduced to the Valley. We are the first practice in the Valley to perform this new technique.

2005 Apogee and Perigee, new surgical techniques for the treatment of pelvic relaxation, are introduced by our practice to the Valley.

2006 Urgent-PC, a new procedure for the in-office treatment of urgency incontinence, is introduced. We are the first practice to implement this new technique.

2007: First Ob/Gyn practice to train and incorporate the Robotics technique using the DaVinci S Robotics System into our Minimally Invasive Surgery Program.

2009: First clinic to integrate Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound First Trimester Screening as an in-house and standard diagnostic test.

2009: First practice to introduce to the Valley the technique of Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery for Hysterectomies as part of a Minimally Invasive approach to gynecological surgery.
